Want to Scream, then some good news...

So last week seamed rough for some reason, money's tight, ran out of shake mix, and then having a rough night at work, I devoured no less than 3 items off the grill. CheeseyBrats made by the same co. that makes them for the New England Patriots. Then lots of grazing, then the day we decorated the tree, we had tons of appetizers, pulled pork sliders, Brie in Bread bowl dip, spinach dip, scallops in bacon, chicken fajitas, tons of litle finger food, christmas music, a beautiful tree, family and fun... BAD for diet... so up to 403 time to get back in the saddle, so I made Sat after weigh in my cheat day, I had some cheese cake, and just some crap I shouldn't have had.

Then this AM (Sunday) I got up and had a meeting in RI with a Million Club Herbalife Distributor. Who went over the business plan with me and Noreen my coach and Judy who was the other coach in the last Challenge. In some ways I've become their model student, and showboat for Herbalife, 60 pounds in 8 weeks doing just Herbalife, My coach wants me on the weight loss challenge site, the herbalife site and their catalogs and books, pays money. I'm going to be an official distributor for Herbalife as of tomorrow, and I'm going to be one of the Coach's in training for the next challenge, as well as a participant. I've learned I can make quite a bit of bank as a distributor and coach so I think this will work for me. And I'm helping the world get a little healthier a few people at a time.

Not under 4 but so close...

Official weigh in weight was 401. So I lost 7 from last week. Mad cuz if I hadn't gained I'd be so much lower. However I'm still trending downaward. Also figured out my BMI had been 59.4 and is now 51.5

Today my daughter went with me, got measured, weighed etc. She is average on the BMI scale, but she wants to lose 30 pounds and be all around more healthy.

So here's to the two of us being fit and healthy and reaching our goal weights!!!

See ya through the week..

and if I can't see you through the week, I'll see you through the window... (badump bump)

My Favorite Poem...

[IF]

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!
--Rudyard Kipling

More Great News...

I think I'm back... Got on my scale this am and I was 398.5, woohoo under 400. That of course is unofficial, but barring any disaster, I should be ok for Saturday.

Guess what else I did for the first time in who knows how long...

I walked, not far but, I walked probably a quarter mile, I'll drive it tomorrow to see how far it was. So if I start doing that more often, the rest of the weight should just fall off.

In addition to my weight loss, my beautiful daughter Amanda wants to join in. She's only 14 so most of her baby fat left when she shot up to 5'9" but she's got a little pudge she wants to get rid of and also wants try to be healthier. So Noreen my coach told me I could bring her Sat and we'll do a measure and starting weight with her too.

So I'll let you know how it all works out on Saturday.

Dammit!!

My son was born 11/23 3 years ago. This week he had a bday, followed by Thanksgiving. We had Lasagna, cake, breadsticks and salad, then I tried to do good the rest of the week...

Then Thanksgiving, Turkey, Paula Dean's Sweet Potatoes, stuffing, Chris Meyer's (bro-in-law), texas corn caserole bread, veggies (not enuff) and sour cream apple pie, (killer). That was at my Dad's house, then we got home at 9:00 pm and ate some more, turkey, stuffing and Potatoes au Gratin, YUM!!! I'm an eater from wayyyy back and a dieter for almost 3 months, the diet lost.

I weighed in saturday and had gained 6 pounds in a week. DISAPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!

I am back on track.

2nd Biggest Loser, but still a winner...

Saturday, November 22, 2008

OK So it's been a couple weeks. eh 3 maybe. anyway... here are the last 3 weeks summed up, up to and including today. 2 weeks ago I had a 0 gain / loss, something came up in my family and I decided food was a great soother of the pain... Still eating from family issues the following and final week of the challenge, when I should have been my best, I actually gained a pound and came in 2nd in the whole challenge. I placed 2nd to my stepdad who beat me by 1/10th of a percentage point. To be fair to everyone they used % of total weight lost. I still took home $105 which I was happy about and I got it the day before my Bday, very cool! Here's where the real winner came in... This Loser lost a total of 50.3 pounds, 10.864 % of my total body weight, and 19.75 inches off of my body. That was the end of the PYC Weight Loss Challenge '08.

However, Noreen my coach during the challenge has stayed on as my coach and has made a personal project out of me.

Todays weigh in was amazing, joy and a few tears shed... I got on two scales as I've done every saturday since I started. 400 + is too much for most any scale. I haven't weighed in in at least 3 years before this challenge. So imagine my surprise to learn I was 37 pounds away from 500. HOLY SHIT, out of control. So here I am a week after the challenge ended, and I had a surprise for everyone. I got on both scales and one read 200 the other 202, add em up folks, that's 402 pounds. A. that's 61 pounds from the start, that's 13% of my total starting body weight and as I found out because I tried it the day before... It's enough to be weighed on 1 SCALE!!!!!

Their was a huge parade in town today in our Wind chill factor / feels like 9 degrees town of Plymouth, America's home town, where Thanksgiving started man... I missed it, too damn cold and had to babysit my son who wll be 3 tomorrow YEAH Logan... Anyway point is, there's no parking in Plymouth, so my mom showed up at Plymouth Yacht Club, where she is a member with Martin my Stepdad who brought me into this program. She heard what happened and started crying for her little (ha) boy getting healthier (finally). I happened to glance over at Noreen (my amazing coach), and she'd welled up so this is actually touching people.

When I had weighed myself @ home the day before and the scale went from ERR to showing a number, I cried a bit. I sent out a text to everyone and got some great support comments back from brother and sister.

My brother called me his hero, and my sis high fived her Hubs, for my joy and Mandie, one of my daughters thought it was awesome.

My next big goal is 100 lost which I'm now only 40 pounds away from which I find unbelievable. When I do that I end up on the Weight Loss Challenge website 100 pound club WLC 100 Club.
Stick with me and see how it goes...

HFCS and Deadly food

Here are the bad things...

High Fructose Corn Syrup bad here's why. When your body takes in sugar, your pancreas makes insulin, that tells your body where to send the sugars you need and stores the rest as fat. When your body takes in HFCS, it does not trigger the creation of insulin, yet you are taking in a sugar like substance. Your body stores it ALL directly to fat not knowing what to do with it. Also sugar and insulin trip a hunger gland in the brain to let you now you've had enough... HFCS does not and it makes you crave more. The sweetener is still triggering other sugar responses in the body so yes Diabetes is a huge risk because your body has no idea what HFCS is. FUN

Dont be fooled by the new Corn Syrup commercials, they are feeling pressure because like trans fat in many cities, communities are trying to get it banned. They claim its the same as sugar, but it is not. Also since its introduction in the 70s child, as well as adult obesity has climbed every year since it arrived and started getting put in DAMN NEAR EVERYTHING. I Manage a 7-11 and had some time to read labels the other day. Even our Whole Wheat bread it was like the third ingredient. Whole Wheat Bread is supposed to be good for you.

Bad Foods... Warning the following foods are favorites and delicious I did not make these things up just learned and am sharing.

Chicken Nugets compressed fat, sodium HFCS and some chicken fried in bad Hydrogenated oil (trans fatty). Then you dip it in HFCS sauce. MMMMMM yummy

Sugary Cereals... cups of sugar and empty calories...

Lunchmeat and hotdogs. Not just the whole "took all the shit from the floor and stuffed in a skin" bad... Worse! Nitrates and Nitrites keep ham pink, leave meat on the counter, it turns grey, leave deli ham on the counter and it stays pink and dries up. Nitrates and nitrites are carcinogens you've heard it before, more in relation to smokin or chemicals... Yes they are cancer causing agents... Yum

A study in Los Angeles found that kids who ate 12 hot dogs a month had nine times the risk of developing leukemia. And more health risks are being discovered all the time. Leaf through any research about kids' nutrition, and you're bound to read about the bane of the cafeteria—Oscar Mayer's Lunchables. These and similar prepackaged lunches are loaded with processed meats and crackers made with hydrogenated oils. These innocent-looking meals can boast fat counts of up to 38 grams. That's as much fat as a Burger King Whopper and over half the recommended daily allowance of fat for an adult.

Juice and Juice drinks lots of sugar, HFCS and carbs and not much actual juice.

French Fries. A few things, Have you ever lost a McD's french fry only to find it much later, still golden yellow and looking like it did when you lost it?? Does that sound right to you? Cut a potato in half and see how long before it starts to grow stuff. But wait here comes more cancer. When you super heat starch (like what happens when you make french fries) it makes Acrylamide, a toxic, cancer causing substance. Some tests showed 300 to 600 times the amount of Acrylamide allowed in a glass of water by the EPA in restaurant french fries.

Chips, Cheetos and Doritos full of fat, sodium and also creates Acrylamide...

Fruit roll ups or snacks. All HFCS and usually, very little fruit.

Doughnuts Deep fried carb rings covered in sugar

Pizza, can be good, but watch for too much cheese, and sausagesand peperoni for nitrates and nitrites

Just an FYI 1 tsp of sugar = 4 grams on a label A 20 oz. Coca Cola has 17 teaspoons of sugar in it. and Oh yeah, Diet soda??? the chems do turn to formaldehyde in your body, guess what? Your body doesn't purge Formaldehyde...

Again, not preaching, just showing one thing I learned this week.

See ya next week,

Dean

Shedding The Pounds

Ready for it???? 10 more pounds bringing my grand total to 52 pounds in 6 weeks and I feel GREAT!!!

Learned a lot this week too. Sugar, High Fructose Corn Syrup, and what foods not to eat... Some are DEADLY!!!

So with 2 weeks left to the end of the challenge, i have lost 11.23% of my starting weight of 463 pounds, I am also only 11 pounds away from my first goal of 400 pounds. At 400 lbs I fit on 1 scale and can weigh in @ home as well. From here it will be the 100 pounds lost mark in which I will be placed on the wlc101.net website seen worldwide. Each 50 mark will be a goal and my Ultimate goal is for me to weigh in at 200 lbs, at that point I'm told I can get paid to be in the herbalife catalog.

So here's to seeing less of me in the future...

As Long as it Keeeps Going Downward...

So here I am in my 5th week, 27.1, 3.??, 9.4, 4/10 and 2.1 from 463 = 421 for a loss of 42 s woohoo. 21 more pounds and I can use my own scale. YEAH!!! I've also added vitamins and a pill called a cell activator to my intake. The vitamins are obvious but the cell activator is to help regenerate villi. Villi absorb the nutrients, as a child they are out straight absorbing stuff, (this is why I cant keep up with my 2 year old) as we get older they get abused by smoking (2nd hand smoke counts), alcohol, toxins we breath etc. This pill supposedly brings them back from the brink of extinction. 1 more step I'm willing to try, but I won't get into the details here..., but basically involves getting rid of everything that may or may not be trapped inside. Right now anything to keep going forward and getting healthy.

I'm also Sampling a pill calle snack defense. My stepmother would be proud, taking this I don't get "bored/hungry".

Reading this it sounds like a lot of weird crap, but it's all natural, and they all handle seperate things and the energy I am getting from adding just the vitamins and cell activator is real. So on I go Onward and downward. It all ends the 15th of November, the day before my bday and I hope to win the $$$ but losing the weight and getting healthy is the best part of it.

AAMOF, we stopped @ McD's (haven't got fam. 100% turned yet) today after shopping and they all got whatever they got, and I was going to eat nothing, but had just a side salad, with ranch dressing, I poured the dressing on the lid and dipped the salad in it each bite to get the taste without drowning my lettuce in it. So I've learned stuff and for those who know I can down a red robin burger in 3 bites and go back for another, those days are behind me and I'm going for a little more health conscious approach to what I throw down my throat. For those who really know me, that means I'm not about to put chocolate and PB ehind me. Hey PB has protein...

Nite all... see you next week.

Oops I slipped...

Originall posted in on myspace on 10/19/08

Well I weighed in @ 4/10ths of a lb lighter than last week. Last Saturday night I goofed a bit. Went to a friends house which ALWAYS ends up in drinking something... So I drank a bit, but more importantly... I ATE. not like everything in sight, but stuff I shouldn't have and quite a bit of it.

OK F' ups aside, I thought I was good the rest of the week, but I also noticed I'm more in tune with my body. Something felt off all week. I felt full, but bloated full, not satisfied full. Something was wrong, and I knew by Wednesday I was not losing anything. Great now I know where my body's at. What next, Inner Peace?? Unlikely, but I'm more aware of me...

However my 40 s and climbing equates to me going from a size 60. Yup 60, stretchy dress pants with elastic in the waist to a 58 solid pair of Dockers. Woohoo you say but I've watched my size go up since 1994, so down is good.

I promise a loss for next week eating 2 12 oz steaks this week, and about a pound of shrimp over the week probably didn't help but my goal is down, and I'll do it.
More next week unless new things emerge...

So another week goes by and this time I goofed a bit. But it's still going down. I lost 3 more pounds this past week and know what I did wrong, not to do it again. But that givs me 30 pounds in 2 weeks which I think is still awesome, personally. So if nothing else pops up between now and next Saturday, then I'll talk to y'all then.

The Beginning of my Transformation

Originally posted on MySpace on Thursday, October 02, 2008

I'm the guy on the right... This was taken at my Sister's wedding 8/24/08 Shortly after I was in the Hospital and a transformation began...

I'm going to go back to 9/14. My weight has busted some veins in my left leg so w/ bad circulation, my leg blows up occasionally. 9/14 my calf was the size of a spiral ham, red and infected. I was admitted to the Hospital. While there my step father (Martin) informed me he had joined "The Biggest Loser" at his Yacht Club and asked if I wanted to join. Reluctantly I said sure barring any disasters with the hospital. I didn't want to "diet", my leg was killing me, so exercise was out but what the hell, go see what they have to say. Martin paid for registration, and offered to pay for whatever I needed.

So I'm out of 'H' on Thursday back to work bad leg and all on Friday and to my 'Loser' meeting on Saturday morning the 20th. I get weighed in... haha I need 2 scales, I don't fit on 1 400 scale. Yes that guy on the right weighed 463 lb's. HOLY SHIT!!! I've not heard a real number in a few years.

463 lbs

did it 2x on two digital weight watchers 400 scales. So class starts and we learn the benefits of protein. Turns out the group offering the class is HerbalLife. The Lose Weight Now, Ask me How people. We don't need to use their stuff, but if we want to, they'd love it. So Martin buys pie pieces made out of their shake mix, a couple flavors of shake mix and off we go.

Turns out the shakes are pretty good, the pies are good even their peanut butter chocolate protein bars are good. So I work, come home put foot up make shakes eat good dinners even ate cheesecake. I even start drinking water. I HATE WATER!!!

HATE WATER!!!

but I drink a gallon almost everyday now. I still need to work to get it down, I am a Mountain Dew Drinker ALL DAY LONG, and haven't had soda since 9/12.

Sunday the 21st was my Mothers bday Lasagna and Cheese Cake. Martin was there, guess he was dissapointed in me, thinking "I just paid for all this crap and he's eating cheese cake." But what I did do was have 1 serving of Lasagna, and 1 piece of cheese cake. Normally I'd be good for 2 lasagna slices and 2 cheese cake at that moment and another before bed, but I had one. That's the way I ran all week. Whatever was on the plate was the serving and that's all. Most of the food was kinda healthy, but I only ate what was on the plate and that was it. Then more shakes and protein bars.

By the time I got to the 27th and weigh in time, she grabbed both scales, took them in the bathroom and I got on and after 2 times on the scale, it turns out I lost 27.1 pounds. yup 27.1 pounds. So now I'm on week 2 and hopefully more weight loss. I will let you all know as I go.
